The German Research Foundation (DFG) promotes equality between men and women and family-friendly jobs. We have considered how we can express respect for our young parents for mastering the double burden of work and family life – at best with a sustainable campaign that offers genuine added value. At the end of 2018, we came up with the idea of sliding cars with SFB 1280 stickers. Within the framework of our mobile children’s room, newly-baked parents have the opportunity to use them.

Much more urgent, however, is the problem of finding daycare places close to the university to reconcile the time-consuming job in science with a reasonable work-life balance. Unfortunately, we cannot solve this serious difficulty, but at least we can give the children and parents a little joy and express our appreciation with this gesture – after all, the birth of a child is a very special occasion.
