The SFB 1280 ReproducibiliTEA starts the new year! After the previous session in December 2024 dealt with scientific errors, the focus is now on measurement errors. Whether in MRI or EEG, scientists often struggle with the fact that their data is not perfect. External influences and movements of the test subjects mean that data is not “clean” but “noisy” – i.e. it contains non-experimental-relevant artifacts. Statistical analyses with such data can lead to falsified results. In this session, the ReproducibiliTEA will discuss how the problem can be tackled – the following paper provides the basis:
Loken, E., & Gelman, A. (2017). Measurement error and the replication crisis. Science, 355(6325), 584-585. https://doi.org/10.1126/science.aal3618
The event will start on Tuesday, 21.01.2025 as usual at 14:00, either in IB/6-127 at RUB or online via zoom.
