Harald Engler takes over Professorship for Behavioural Immunobiology at the UDE

The University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) reports on their newsportal: Inflammations in our body influence behaviour and psyche. This is manifested, for example, by constant fatigue or increased loss of appetite.

Harald Engler (Project Leader A12) is new professor of Behavioural Immunology at the UDE and researches at the University Hospital Essen (UK Essen), among other things, how mental illnesses can arise from stress and inflammation. The aim is to identify new approaches for the prevention and treatment of mental disorders.

Another focus of Englers research is on learning and memory processes and how they are influenced by hormones and immune messengers. His research is funded, among others, by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of our Collaborative Research Centre SFB 1280.
