UMEA: Excellence in Medicine
How do new medical findings get to the bedside? Through clinically researching physicians. At the Medical Faculty of the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE), they will in future be supported by a new funding program so that clinical and scientific activities can be combined better. The UDE reports.
The program “Excellence in Medicine: Clinician Scientist Academy of University Medicine Essen” (UMEA) will be funded by the German Research Foundation with approximately 2.6 million euros over the next three years. It is headed by Dagmar Führer-Sakel, Director of the Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetology and Metabolism at the University Hospital Essen. Her deputy is Sigrid Elsenbruch, Project Manager A10 and A12.
