The news portal of the RUB reports:
“In view of the astonishing cognitive achievements that birds can accomplish, it was suspected that their brain is more organized than expected”, says Onur Güntürkün (A01, F02), head of the Biopsychology work unit at the Faculty of Psychology at the RUB. Thanks to modern 3D polarized light imaging (3D-PLI), this assumption has now been confirmed and the 150-year-old false assumption that bird brains are much simpler in structure has been refuted.
