Dr. Katharina Spoida and her team of researchers have gained new insights into the process of unlearning: When specific nerve cells in the brains of mice are selectively stimulated, they show signs of a weakened fear response much more quickly.
What this means and how best to proceed with research in this direction is detailed in the team’s report in the Nature journal “Translational Psychiatry” dated January 10, 2026.
