How does thinking arise in a brain that is structured so completely differently from that of us mammals? Some birds, such as crows, manage to perform similar cognitive feats to chimpanzees with much smaller and differently structured brains. How do they manage this? In the ERC project “Avian Mind” Onur Güntürkün (A01, F02) wants to answer parts of this question.
