A learning experiment with test subjects of different ages yielded surprising results.
Linking events and their consequences – experts speak of associative learning – is a crucial ability for adapting to the environment. It has a major influence on our mental health. A study by the Research and Treatment Center for Mental Health at Ruhr University Bochum shows that children of primary school age have the highest learning performance in this respect. The results provide a new understanding of associative learning disorders, which are linked to the later development of mental illness. The researchers report on this in the journal Communications Psychology from December 16, 2024.
