The pay grade classification depends on the personal and collective legal requirements. The candidate will conduct research and teaching in the area of cognitive neuroscience and cognitive science. This research position ideally focuses on experimental animal models of the neuronal processes of learning as well as approaches utilizing advanced analytical methods which enable the researcher to bridge the functional processes of learning and memory. Integration with the collaborative research centre (SFB) 1280 “Extinction Learning”, as well as interaction in other collaborative neuroscience, neuroinformatics, and cognitive science projects is desired. The Faculty of Psychology is known to be one of the strongest research faculties at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, with numerous international connections and collaborative collegiality.
Positive evaluation as a junior professor or equivalent academic achievement (e.g. Habilitation) or significant post-doctoral research contributions and teaching experience are as required as well as the willingness to participate in the self-governing bodies of the RUB.

In the Insitute of Cognitive Psychology (head: Prof. Dr. Oliver T. Wolf) at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum,
the position of a research assistant (doctoral candidate)
is to be filled as soon as possible within the framework of a DFG project on the topic “Stress and emotion regulation”. The classification is according to TVL 13 (25.8895 hours per week) according to the agreement of North Rhine-Westphalia. Limited to 36 months.
Our unit investigates the influences of stress and the associated hormonal reactions to affective and cognitive processes in humans. The applicant will be asked to conduct experimental studies on the effects of acute stress and the administration of cortisol on cognitive emotion regulation processes. Behavioural, neuroendocrine and peripheral physiological methods will be used. In addition to data collection, the tasks include data analysis and publication of the results in international journals. The possibility for the doctorate is given. The scope of the teaching obligation is based on §3 of the Lehrverpflichtungsverordnung NRW.
